eyogi- Experience by Navya

Updated: Mar 29, 2020

Hello my name is Navya Kumar. I am a member of Eyogi Gurukul. In the classes we learn about Ancient Indian discoveries, Vedas, Upanishads, Mahabharata and Ramayana and many more things.

When I joined the first 101 class last year in January, I knew around 5 mantras, but at the end of the first course I knew over ten mantras! Now I am doing my 201 Level course and going to Eyogi classes helped me a lot in my daily life.

Like one day at school we were doing religion, when my teacher said lots of religions believe in different things about when people die. Then she asked me what does Hindus believe in? I told her about reincarnation, I said according to Hindu tradition when someone dies their body dies not the soul. Then the soul goes to another body. This keeps on happening. The soul can never be destroyed by any weapon, not by wind not by water not even by fire. She was amazed that I knew so much about my religion. If I had not gone to Eyogi Gurukul then I would have not been able to explain about reincarnation.

Another example is that one day I was in the park. I was scared to do the monkey bars. My mum told me to chant mantras because then I will be thinking about God. Then he would give me courage. After chanting Hare Krishna, I was able to do the monkey bars. Hinduism helps us with our daily life!

Reading is my hobby so now I read Bhagwad Gita. In the future I will buy or borrow Ramayana or Mahabharata to read at my free time.

In my last class we learnt about Yoga. Yoga means to join or to unite. It’s a harmony between the mind, body and nature. Yoga is very beneficial for our mind and health. The 8 steps of Yoga are Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama, Pratyahara, Dharana, Dhyana, Samadhi. I was amazed to know that Yoga evolved 13000 years ago in India. The practise of yoga came as oral traditions and writings were done much later. Then the sages carried this powerful knowledge of Yoga to different parts of the world. I was surprised yoga is thousands of years old and people in the western world only started yoga a few years ago. The Prime Minister of India Mr. Narender Modi introduced “International Yoga Day on 21st June”, now it is celebrated in many countries in the world.

As part of all the Eyogi courses we have to do a poster and a video presentation that is one of the fun parts of the classes! I feel very happy to have such a great teacher because he makes the classes interesting and fun! I recommend everyone to join this class as it will have great benefits.

Thank you for reading my blog.
