Today was my third class at eYogi Gurukul's Hinduism Intermediate 201 course. Today we learnt about the Bhagavad Gita which tells us of the events leading up to the present age of Kali.
We learnt that Pandu had five kids named Yudhisthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula and Sahadeva. Dhritarastra took care of them whe Pandu died. Dhritarastra became King and envied the Pandavas. So the blind King wanted his own sons. Duryodhana challenged the Pandavas to a gambling match. Duryodhana and his brothers took possession of Draupadi, the chaste and devoted wife of the Pandavas. They tried to strip her naked. Krishna had saved her but, the gambling which was rigged, cheated the Pandavas of their kingdom and forced them into 13 years of exile.
Krishna offered to enter the war according to the desire of tr antagonists. As God, he would not fight. Krishna gave him discourse for 3 days in the middle of the battlefield and this is known as Bhagavad Gita and Krishna convinces him to fight. this thought me to overcome my problems by practicing daily.
After our break we chanted a few mantras such as the "Vishnu Mantra", and the "Nirvana Shatakam". We also learnt what are Dashavatar which refers to the ten primary avatars of vishnu.
I rally liked this weeks class and i am eager to learn more next week.
